Western Electric A1 With Subset
This phone is one of the top holy grails for the phone
collector. Made only for a very short time in 1927, this phone was the
transition phone from candlesticks to cradles. This phone has been
completely restored and is in perfect working order. The finish on the phone
is a 20% gloss Polyurethane which is about as close as you can get to
replicating the original finish. The dial is a correct "no notch" #2HB. The
handset is original to this phone and is the early "bullet" transmitter E1
and buffed up flawlessly. The subset is an early 295A. The woodwork is in
original condition with the latest patent date being 1903. The backboard was
stripped and refinished due to the fact that it had quite a few layers of
paint on it. The subset also comes with the original key. The cords on the
phone are reproduction, but phones of this age rarely have useable cords.
The leather on the bottom of the phone has also been replaced.
The phone is ready to plug in and use if you wish to use it rather than just display it.
